5 astonishing health stats that happen AFTER adopting a Plant-Based Diet. 💪🌱

The whole point of cutting out all animal products from our diet was purely selfish. Yes, we are both animal lovers, and yes, we both care about the environment, but sadly, that wasn’t enough to make us take the step and become Vegan at that time. 😬

Late 2019, we weren’t feeling very good about our health at all. My husband has just been diagnosed with stomach ulcers, and I had just had a laparoscopy. He experienced bloating and severe pain, and I was in constant pain, and not healing as quickly as I should have been. This change in diet worked wonders for us both. 🙌

Watching the docs (see https://www.addictedtoveg.com/post/5-documentaries-guaranteed-to-blow-your-vege-loving-mind), opened our eyes to the astonishing benefits that plant-based diets can produce. Add some of our own research in there, and we were set and ready to go. So here, are our favourite health statistics. These have come from a variety of sources which I will reference below for you to also see for yourselves. 🤩

Reduced Inflammation.

There’s a lot of science surrounding this, but it’s a bit boring. So in a nut-shell - switching to a plant-based diet can help reduce measures of inflammation by 29% in just three weeks (28).

Carbs are NOT the devil.

We have just been fed this absolute sh*te about carbs. In fact, they will help with your concentration and energy! Ok, so shovelling in white bread, white rice & white pasta isn’t the best idea and you’ll probs gain more than a few pounds. But, potatoes, sweet potatoes, fruits, beans, whole grain are GOOD FOR YOU! 🥳


Increased Blood Flow

Just two hours after eating a heavy animal-based meal, arteries can constrict by 40%. Avoid meat and experience the opposite effect, since plant-based meals allow blood to remain fluid and flow quickly to its destination. (Cloudy-blood moment in Game Changers was 😲).

Significant Reduction of Cancer Risks.

Prostate, bowel, colon, lymphoma’s, leukaemia are all SIGNIFICANTLY reduced. Research has shown that people who eat a diet high in animal protein (including red meat, poultry, fish, dairy and eggs) have more than a 400% increased risk of dying from cancer. No thanks.

Simply avoiding animal products can reduce the risk of dying from heart disease by 55%. A healthy plant-based diet is not only effective at preventing cardiovascular disease but is the only diet that has ever been clinically proven to actually reverse it.
