Homemade Protein Granola Bars 💪 🌱

After coming across a few incredibly overpriced protein bars in one of the local supermarkets on the weekend, we decided enough is enough. Due to import costs and ridiculous inflation prices by some of the supermarkets here in Doha, you are looking at between 12-35 QR for a small SINGLE protein snack bar (that's around £3-7 )🤑. Most are also full of whey...🤢

How hard can it be to make our own? Ridiculously easy is the answer! We gathered our ingredients and off we went. The whole point of this is to pack a tasty punch of protein on the days where perhaps we need a little more in our diets.

We picked up some Protein boosted Granola, a whole range of dried fruits (some were probiotic friendly), peanut butter, dark chocolate nibs, and golden syrup (you could also use maple syrup).🤗

Here's what you do:

  1. Pop a saucepan on low, and gently heat a cup of peanut butter, with half a cup of syrup.

  2. Add 3 cups of granola, and then go to town on your flavours, we made a fruit and nut batch, and a choc chip and nut batch.

  3. Once combined, spread the mixture onto a flat baking tray lined with a baking sheet. You can make it into a rectangular shape to make for easy cutting later.

  4. Freeze it for 20-30 minutes, take it out, and then cut it into the sized pieces you'd like.

5. Store in the fridge and nibble away for a protein-packed punch.

What we love about this is how easily you can change the recipe and ingredients, and create a smorgasbord of delicious protein bars with all sorts of delights combined! The peanut butter is essential as it helps set them hard, we tried a batch with only syrup and they were incredibly bendy....delicious, but bendy. If it seems too sticky, add peanut butter, if it seems too crumbly or dry, add syrup.
